IP Lookup
Free web tool: IP Lookup
Info
- Uses the free ip-api.com API to look up IP geolocation information.
- Location may differ from actual location if using VPN or proxy.
- Location information is approximate and may not be accurate.
About IP Lookup
IP Lookup retrieves geographic and network information for any IP address or domain name. When you open the tool, it automatically queries the ip-api.com free API with no IP argument to detect and display your current public IP address along with its associated country, region, city, zip code, latitude and longitude, timezone, ISP, organization, and AS (autonomous system) number. The result is displayed in a clean table layout and the IP address can be copied to your clipboard with a single button click.
Network engineers, system administrators, security researchers, and developers use IP geolocation to debug connectivity issues, verify VPN and proxy behavior, identify the geographic origin of incoming requests, and understand how their users are distributed across regions. This tool also supports manual lookups — type any IPv4, IPv6, or domain name into the search field and press Enter or click the Lookup button to retrieve the geolocation data for that specific address.
The tool uses the ip-api.com free endpoint which provides JSON geolocation data including country code, region code, city, zip, coordinates, timezone, ISP name, organization name, and ASN. Important caveats are shown in the info panel: location data is approximate and may differ from the true physical location when the target uses a VPN, proxy, or anonymous hosting service. No user data is stored or logged by this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions
What information does an IP lookup return?
The lookup returns 10 fields from ip-api.com: the queried IP address, country name and country code, region name and region code, city, zip code, latitude and longitude coordinates, timezone (e.g. America/New_York), ISP name, organization name, and AS number with organization name.
How accurate is IP geolocation?
IP geolocation is approximate. It can typically identify the country accurately and often the city or region, but it does not provide a precise street address. Accuracy varies by ISP and region. Consumer ISPs often register IP blocks to their headquarters city rather than the actual user's city.
Why might my IP location show the wrong city?
ISPs assign IP addresses in blocks registered to specific locations, which may be a regional headquarters or data center rather than your actual location. Additionally, if you are using a VPN, proxy, Tor exit node, or mobile carrier, the detected location will reflect the VPN server or carrier gateway, not your physical location.
Can I look up IPv6 addresses?
Yes. ip-api.com supports both IPv4 and IPv6 address lookups. Enter the IPv6 address in the search field just as you would an IPv4 address or domain name. The same geolocation fields are returned.
Can I look up a domain name instead of an IP?
Yes. You can enter a domain name like example.com or google.com. The API will resolve the domain to an IP address and return geolocation data for that IP. The result shows the resolved IP address in the IP Address field.
What does the AS number mean?
AS stands for Autonomous System. An AS number (ASN) is a unique identifier assigned to a network operated by a single organization or ISP. The AS field shows the ASN and the organization that operates it, which can help identify the network provider behind an IP address even when the ISP and organization fields differ.
Does the tool store my IP address?
No. This tool makes a direct API call from your browser to ip-api.com. No data is logged or stored by this website. The ip-api.com service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles requests, but your IP lookup data is not retained by this tool.
What is the difference between ISP and Organization in the results?
ISP refers to the Internet Service Provider that owns and operates the IP block — typically a telecom or hosting company. Organization refers to the entity that has been assigned the IP address, which may be a business, university, or cloud provider. For consumer ISPs, both fields are often the same. For cloud IP addresses (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), the Organization field typically shows the specific company using that IP.
