About Currency Converter
The Currency Converter is a free, browser-based reference tool that allows instant conversion between 11 major world currencies: US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), British Pound (GBP), Chinese Yuan (CNY), Swiss Franc (CHF), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Australian Dollar (AUD), Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), Singapore Dollar (SGD), and Korean Won (KRW). Simply enter an amount, select the source currency and target currency, and the converted value appears immediately.
The tool uses a triangular conversion method via KRW (Korean Won) as the pivot currency. Each currency has a fixed reference rate against KRW stored in the tool. To convert from any currency A to any currency B, the amount is first converted to KRW using currency A's rate, then converted to currency B using currency B's rate. The Japanese Yen uses a per-100 yen convention (standard in Korean forex quoting), which is correctly handled in the conversion logic.
A built-in exchange rate reference table displays the KRW equivalent for one unit of each supported currency, making it easy to compare relative currency values at a glance. A swap button instantly reverses the conversion direction. The tool clearly notes that rates are fixed reference rates for estimation purposes, and provides quick links to Naver Finance, XE.com, and Google Finance for real-time rate lookups.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which currencies does this converter support?
The converter supports 11 major currencies: US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), British Pound (GBP), Chinese Yuan Renminbi (CNY), Swiss Franc (CHF), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Australian Dollar (AUD), Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), Singapore Dollar (SGD), and Korean Won (KRW). These cover most major international trade and travel currencies.
How does the currency conversion work?
The tool uses KRW as a pivot currency. Each currency has a stored rate representing its value in KRW. To convert from currency A to currency B: first multiply the amount by A's KRW rate to get the KRW equivalent, then divide by B's KRW rate to get the result in B. This triangular method enables any-to-any conversion using just 11 reference rates.
Why does the Japanese Yen use a per-100 convention?
In Korean forex markets, the Japanese Yen exchange rate is quoted as the KRW value of 100 JPY, not 1 JPY, because 1 yen is worth less than 1 Korean Won. Displaying the rate per 100 yen makes the number more readable (e.g., 900 KRW per 100 JPY vs. 9 KRW per 1 JPY). The converter handles this convention automatically in all calculations.
Are these exchange rates real-time?
No. The exchange rates in this tool are fixed reference rates intended for rough estimation and educational use only. For actual transactions, travel, or financial decisions, always use a real-time rate source such as Naver Finance, XE.com, or your bank's official rates. Currency rates fluctuate continuously based on market conditions.
How do I convert Korean Won to US Dollars?
Select KRW in the "From" dropdown and USD in the "To" dropdown. Enter the amount in Korean Won. The result in US Dollars will appear instantly. You can also click the swap button to quickly reverse the direction if you already have USD selected in "From".
What is the difference between mid-market rate and buy/sell rates?
The mid-market rate (also called the interbank rate) is the midpoint between the buying and selling price of a currency. Banks and currency exchange services typically offer rates slightly worse than the mid-market rate, adding a spread as their fee. This tool uses reference mid-market rates. When exchanging money in practice, you will receive a rate slightly different from the displayed values.
Why does the result sometimes show scientific notation?
For very small conversion results (absolute value less than 0.01), the tool displays the result in scientific notation (e.g., 7.41e-4) to avoid displaying an unclear string of zeros. For large values (above 1000), comma-formatted locale numbers are used. For values between 0.01 and 999, two decimal places are shown.
Can I convert between non-KRW currencies directly (e.g., USD to EUR)?
Yes. Select USD in "From" and EUR in "To", enter your amount, and the result appears instantly. The tool performs the conversion internally via KRW: USD amount → KRW → EUR. The intermediate KRW value is not shown, and the final result is directly in your target currency.
